Eating delicious food with family and the leftovers.

I love the principle of setting time aside to be thankful. In a culture that moves so fast, thankfulness can sometimes seem to get lost in the to do list each day holds. Plus, I love the food!
Brenda Archuletta says
The good food, the gathering of friends and family and of course….the day off work.

Donuts and coffee for breakfast. Then the agonizing wait for the whole meal to slowly take shape, all the aromas, sights and sounds nearly driving me crazy. Then, the fully loaded plate. The lively conversation that slows down to just a few words in between bites and sighs and sips and then finally, finished. I love the whole day. Doesn’t matter if it’s with family or friends or strangers or all of the above. It’s my second favorite holiday (you can’t top July 4th for me)!

Thanksgiving gives me pause for those that won’t be around the table as before, for the blessings of those still with us and for the many loving acts of kindness that happened throughout the year.

I live about 1,000 miles away from my family, and flying home for Thanksgiving just isn’t an option for me. I’m very fortunate to have a “local mom” here in Chicago, and she always has me over for Thanksgiving. What I love, now, is when I get permission to bring a side dish that is NOT green bean casserole (which, frankly, I hate). Your website has been a great source of alternatives for me to suggest over coffee about a month or so before Thanksgiving, before she has a chance to realize that I’m talking her out of asking me for green bean casserole. 🙂
That said, I still have the ambition to make my own turkey one day. I usually have a second Thanksgiving with local friends that weekend, and would probably try your five-spice turkey recipe this year if I were to win the giveaway.

I love the planning part — the menu making — what should be new and what can I not possibly change? Well, everything can be changed up a little, eh? 🙂

For our family, we’re most thankful that we have each other to enjoy Thanksgiving. My little sister’s house has become the hub for our ever-growing family. Each year is full of laughter, some tears, and lots of fun. Also great food…althouh last year someone bought a dish and nobody wanted to claim it…lol!

Stephanie says
Honestly, the best thing about Thanksgiving is having leftover turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, rolls, pie, etc for the next week!
linda sch says
keeping on with family traditions, even if that means the same jello salads every year
Rie says
The great thing about Thanksgiving is being able to show my love to my family with food……Oh….who am I kidding….the best thing about Thanksgiving is the homemade stuffing and gravy….teehee

Spending time with family and sharing delicious, favorite foods!
Clare says
I’m English but live in the States so for me it’s all about the food since I don’t have the sentimental memories from growing up with this holiday.
